Smartphones are nowadays indispensable devices in daily life. Their rapid technological development makes it possible to have almost all necessary information on them, which facilitates their spread among all users. However, this extensive use has led to many distraction problems while performing other main tasks, such as activities on the road, which can also impact people's safety. Therefore, various experts focused their attention on issues related to drivers looking at their mobile phones; recently, researchers from different disciplines saw the need to deepen knowledge also on the phenomenon of vulnerable road users distracted by digital devices, especially when approaching signalized intersections. This study builds on and seeks to extend this area of research by analyzing the effects of digital distraction on pedestrians as they approach unsignalised intersections located on roundabout entrances and exits. The aim of the research is to understand the extent to which the task of checking social media affects pedestrian reaction and crossing times, as well as to identify which elements attract the most pedestrian attention. To achieve this goal, an eye-tracking study was designed, in which participants wearing eye-tracking glasses were asked to walk a predefined route, once checking their social media apps and once walking without distracting technological elements. The results showed an 84% increase in reaction time when using the phone, while only a slight rise in crossing time was found. The general conclusions about the most observed elements when walking are also consistent with the main findings of previous literature studies.Healthcare provider (HCP) satisfaction is important for staff retention and effective health service delivery. Inadequate resources, understaffing, and ineffective organizational structure may reduce HCP satisfaction in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Some qualitative studies have described links between environmental conditions and job satisfaction in HCPs; however, few studies have explored this link using survey data. This study explores associations between HCP satisfaction and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) infrastructure, cleanliness, and infection prevention and control (IPC) practices in rural healthcare facilities (HCFs) in LMICs. This study analyzes 2002 HCFs in rural areas of 14 LMICs. Generalized linear mixed-effects logistic regression models were used to analyze the association between HCP satisfaction, WaSH infrastructure, and cleanliness and IPC practices. Most respondents reported that they were unsatisfied with water (65%), sanitation (68%), and hygiene infrastructure (54%) ion facilities within the local context, and the provision of hygienic materials are key interventions to improve HCP satisfaction. Dedicated funding and oversight should be established at the HCF level to ensure access to consumable hygiene and IPC products and maintenance of WASH infrastructure. Theory of Mind (ToM) has been studied in several conditions as a significant predictor of QoL. We aimed to assess the relationship between ToM abilities, alexithymia and subjective QoL in PNES patients and compare with generalised epilepsy (ES) patients and healthy controls.
Patients with PNES (n=28), ES (n=28) and healthy volunteers (n=28) were evaluated for alexithymia and quality of life (QoL) with Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (TAS-20) and Short Form-36 (SF-36). Reading the Mind in the Eyes test was used for assessment of affective ToM and Hinting Task and Strange Stories tests for cognitive ToM abilities.
Analyses revealed lower SF-36 scores and poorer ToM performance in the PNES group compared to healthy group and poorer cognitive ToM performance than ES group. Cognitive ToM performance was inversely correlated with TAS-20 "difficulty identifying feelings" subscale and "physical functioning" subscale of SF-36 in the PNES group.
These results are consistent with previous research on PNES and other somatoform disorders and suggest that PNES is associated with impaired ToM task performance. ToM task performance might be related to specific aspects of alexithymia and QoL.

ToM task performance might be related to specific aspects of alexithymia and QoL.The aim of the study was to develop a model of coronary microembolization (CME) in rats at a lower cost. We developed a novel rat model without thoracotomy and ventilation under the guidance of echocardiography. Rats were sacrificed at 3 h, 24 h and 1 month postoperatively in both the Echo-CME and Open-chest CME groups for the comparison of the modeling accuracy, mortality, cardiopulmonary circulation, pleural adhesion and ventilation-induced lung injury (VILI). Results showed that the coronary microthrombus formed at 3 h and reached its peak at 24 h postoperatively, which included platelet aggregation and fibrin web. The Echo-group increases success rates, decreased mortality, postoperative complications including pleural adhesion, cardiopulmonary dysfunction and VILI postoperatively than the Open-chest group at 1month postoperatively. The ejection fraction of the CME group decreased to 50% and obvious cardiac fibrosis formed at 3 months postoperatively. Our unique surgical method provided a platform to study molecular mechanisms and potential new pathways for CME treatment.
